‘….For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might….. (I John 3:8).

To better understand what good news is, think of a bad one. The world is full of heart breaking, soul wrenching and catastrophic events that we have even lost count of them; these are bad ones and most of them are of global, regional and domestic scales. The recent COVID-19 pandemic was of monumental proportion and no part of the world escaped its impact. Floods, fire, climate change impact is having its toll on the planet and currently there is no end to devastation from these happenings. Ironically any event that is void of destruction hardly attracts media attention, but everyone that ends with fatality will be glamorise and tagged breaking news!

Coming from the backdrop of bad news, when one hears of good ones, there’s hope, assurance, joy and restoration depending on the context. When someone who has passed the child bearing age suddenly gives birth to twins that is good news. When a sinner surrenders her life to Jesus and turns a new leaf, that’s a good news. When a marriage is saved from collapse, that’s good news. Passing a qualifying exam after several attempts is another example of good news.

Whilst the devil’s plan is to steal, kill and destroy, the good news is that Jesus Christ has made an alternative provision of life in abundance for you (John 10:10). Life challenges can be enormous but God is still making provision of escape for his own (Isaiah 43:18-19).

Therefore, whenever the carrier of bad news comes around, remind him of alternative news – the good one. Premised on the fact that you’re a child of God, you are a potential recipient of every good thing (Psalm 84:11). The good news is that God is still good, even if what you hoped for doesn’t manifest exactly as you desire, because all things will work out well for those that love Him and are called according to His purpose (Rom. 8:28).

Beyond this world, the good news is that: Jesus is preparing a place of our final rest for us so that after our life’s sojourn, we may have a portion with Him (John 14:3). How prepared are you for that eternal life? He can help you to destroy devil’s activities so that your life of joy will be turbo-charged. Will you like to embrace the good news? Sincerely and humbly call on Him now and He will visit you suddenly (Revelation 3:20).
