‘Why do the heathen rage and the people imagine a vain thing?” (Psalm 2:1).

The Psalmist became bewildered by his experience in the midst of his brethren who loved ungodliness in Psalm 69:8. He was however swift to provide answer to his question in Vs 9 (for the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up, and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me). This seem to be the alarm bell ringing in the quarters of the godly ones today as our world is becoming more ungodly than ever before and wickedness is becoming the accepted norm in the society.

The senseless killings everywhere and wanton destruction of livelihood by greedy leaders are beyond imagination. Human beings have lost every spirit of humanity and fairness; rather everyone is callous, unloving and unforgiving.

Pondering on this truth, one cannot but ask the following questions: If this continues, is there any hope or reward for godly living? For how long will the wicked continue to hold sway in a worn-out society? If I may provide a sincere response to these questions; the ungodly will cease very soon, there’s hope for those who are on the Lord’s side and a doomsday of judgement awaits the ungodly if they refuse to change (Psalm 37:1-2).

When you decide to live a godly life, there’s bound to be persecution from the wicked ones. But the most painful aspect of this is that, the ungodly who once were ‘outsiders’ are not only in the Church today, but are also taking highest positions of authority politically and persecuting those who are trying to stand up for the Master. To those in this unfortunate experience described , here is the Master’s Word of comfort for you in Luke 6:22-23, John 15:19.

The end of a war is always brutal, so is this ageing world. However the encouragement for the faithful ones is that this scenario will end very soon with the beginning of a new world order – the emergence of a New Jerusalem. A never ending kingdom where Jesus Christ and His bride shall enjoy timelessness and unending relationship garnished with love, joy and peace. Beloved, I cannot wait to see you there.
