“David therefore departed thence, and escaped to cave Adullam…….” (I Samuel 22:1).

Every time the word escape is used, it denotes breaking free from a confinement, a control or a cage. The Psalmist in Psalm 124:7 figuratively used this word a release from a state of restriction. When one escapes from the hand of a captor, then the reality of true freedom is well appreciated and it’s like a dream.

David severally escaped well-calculated assassination attempts from unexpected quarter (his boss) and he ended in cave Adullam where everyone that was in distress, in debt and discontented gathered themselves unto him. His escape was for his life, but it also started the building of a dependable military force that helped him later in life.

Cave Adullam to David was a place of refuge and security from his assailant; but a training ground for others who joined him. There’s something unique about decisions made at moment of escape! Escape to where and with whom? A careful and sincere answer to these questions will determine whether your decision was carefully and wisely made. While some got it right, unfortunately many made a mess of it.

Are you in an abusive and ungodly relationship, an association or fellowship with un-Biblical practices, a toxic workplace with evidences of attempt to limit your divinely endowed ability, you may need to prayerfully seek opportunities for a release (II Cor. 6:14-16).

When you make the Lord your light and salvation, the fear of men will pale into insignificance and you will, with boldness advance in the pursuit of your dream in life. David approached his journey alongside with God and he was able to escape all the traps of Saul; he ended up as the King in Israel. When Jesus ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men (Eph. 4:8). He did this so as to provide a way of escape for His children from the clutches of bully of this world (Satan) and his agents.

Finally just as the angels sounded a strong warning to Lot in the city of Sodom and Gomorrah to escape for his life, the Lord is sending the same message with much more louder decibel to this generation to escape to God’s side because this market place will soon be shut down.
